About

My brain rebooted itself on August, 6 2018. Then it did it again on September 29th. Two unexplainable seizures equals one new epilepsy diagnosis at the age of 37. Nothing like a dramatic brain malfunction to remind me about my priorities—about how important it is for me to make art.

I’ve been drawing and painting and have been encouraged to do so for as long as I can remember. My first break from making art was college. After graduating from The University of Chicago in 2001 with a degree BA in Religion in the Humanities, I promptly resumed expressing myself visually.

For the next few years I lived in Chicago and, for a time, worked as a bike messenger to support my oil habit. My professional cycling career ended after an unfortunate encounter with a FedEx truck. One door closes, another opens…in Brooklyn. I spent the next 6 years in a live work space in Red Hook, where I painted and walked dogs to pay the rent.

In 2009, I both discovered my love of circus and began my parallel life as the co-founder of Evermore Pet Food. This is a very long story and one that led to another fallow time. In 2015, a shoulder injury left me unable to train or perform trapeze. I began to draw performers to maintain a sense of connection to the circus community. I slowly healed and Evermore began to thrive. Once again, I put down my pens.

I have been drawing again since the fall of 2018, but I’m desperate to get painting again. Stay tuned.
